Compositions

I have had a love for music ever since I demanded organ lessons from my parents at the age of 5. I have studied organ performance since 1983, having finished the degree in 1989; whereas I have finished the degree in piano performance in 2002 at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Málaga. As a curious fact, I own an old Hammond Organ L122-S, from the late sixties (1967), including a rhythm box (in fact, a vintage click-and-pop drum machine that slides out like a drawer).

Now, in my spare time, I am interested in music composition and I have just finished my first compositions, including music and orchestration:

  • Tolle Lege (ISWC T0427860658), a religious march for symphonic band (30 instruments: tuba, flute, piccolo, bassoon, oboe, clarinets (main, first, second and third), E flat clarinet, horns (first and second), trumpets (first and second), trombones (first, second and third), percussion (bass drum, ride cymbal, snare drum), euphoniums (first and second), flugelhorn (first and second), baritone saxophone, alto saxophones (first and second), tenor saxophones (first and second), timpani).
    Year of composition: 2010.
    [Conductor score][Instrumentation]
You can listen to a simple MIDI audio (converted to a MP3 file) of this piece to have a first idea. [MIDI sound]
  • Hymn (Reg. 201199900232128), a hymn for wind orchestra and piano.
    Year of composition: 2012.
  • Voices from inside (ISWC T0428443279), a choral hymn for symphonic band. Music, orchestration and lyrics: (30 instrument plus chorus and piano: tuba, flute, piccolo, bassoon, oboe, clarinets (main, first, second and third), E flat clarinet, horns (first and second), trumpets (first and second), trombones (first, second and third), percussion (bass drum, ride cymbal, snare drum), euphoniums (first and second), flugelhorn (first and second), baritone saxophone, alto saxophones (first and second), tenor saxophones (first and second), timpani plus piano and chorus, four voices). Lyrics combine English chorus (theme) and Latin phrases.
    Year of composition: 2014.
    [Conductor score] [Chorus score] [Lyrics][Instrumentation]
A fragment including the main theme of Voices from inside was first released in 2014 by Coral Magnum Mysterium conducted by Miguel Ángel Garrido. You can listen to this fragment at this link.

  • Carmen's lullaby - La nana de Carmen (ISWC T2102398024), a nursery rhyme (lullaby) for piano and vocal soloists/chorus.
    Year of composition: 2016.
    [Piano score] [Lyrics]
You can listen to a simple MIDI format (in a MP3 file) of this piece to have a first idea. It is a "home" MIDI file, so left hand and right hand are at the same volume level, arpeggios are skipped, sustain piano pedal is not properly working sometimes ... But at least, a visitor can have a first impression on the piece. [MIDI sound]
  • One, two, three, four, five (ISWC T2102398035), a children song for piano and vocal soloists.
    Year of composition: 2017.

  • Nostalgia - Childhood memories (ISWC T3173169916), a film score for piano and violin.
    Year of composition: 2023.
There are some moments in the year when you look back in time. In my case, it is a good opportunity to do my best seeing the world through a child's eyes, something that we should all try to practice as it reminds us what really matters. Both ingredients together evoke memories and some nostalgia within me. That is why I wrote `Nostalgia - childhood memories'. [Piano and violin score]
WAV file of this piece directly recorded from my piano (Yamaha Clavinova). Hope you like my performance. [WAV file.]
  • One, two, three, four, five in A major, for strings (pending registration), a children song for easy strings (violin 1, violin 2, cello and double bass) and piano.
    Year of arrangement: 2023.
    [Sheet music]
