  • The European Commission is organising an Information Day on 21 September in Brussels to present the 2016 work programme of Horizon 2020's Societal Challenge "Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials".

    The Information Day will focus on the upcoming calls for proposals under Horizon 2020's Societal Challenge "Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials" and related call topics in the “Blue Growth - Demonstrating an Ocean of Opportunities”, “Industry 2020 in the Circular Economy” and "Smart and Sustainable Cities" focus areas.

    Representatives of the research community, SME associations, businesses, industry and European institutions are invited to join the event on Monday, 21 September 2015 in the Albert Borschette Conference Centre, rue Froissart 36, 1040 Brussels. We expect more than 500 participants.

    Indicative Agenda

    The morning plenary session will inform you about the general strategy, horizontal aspects and the 2016 call topics under the new work programme and provide guidance on the preparation and submission of proposals.

    The afternoon sessions will be devoted to specific topics of the 2016 call for proposals and include networking opportunities. When registering, participants will be asked to indicate which of the networking sessions they would like to attend. They will have the opportunity to present their organisation and contribution to a specific topic.

    Morning sessions and some of the afternoon sessions (Circular economy, Systemic eco-innovation, Climate services & decarbonisation, Nature based solutions for sustainable cities for territorial resilience, Raw materials)  will be webstreamed and you are welcome to submit your questions via Twitter under #H2020SC5. Access to webstreaming is free and does not require prior registration.

    Video recordings and presentations will be made available after the event.

    Call for Solutions 2015

    Submit and showcase ideas and projects aiming to find innovative and advanced solutions for entrepreneurs, research centres, start-ups and SMEs at the Smart City Plaza.

    In this 5th edition of the SCEWC, the jewel of the crown will arguably be once again the Smart City Plaza, a genuine plaza of over 2,000-meter-square showcasing the most innovative solutions. The plaza will be surrounded by SCEWC global partners and will be located in the very center of the Exhibition Area. As such, it will catch the most attention and attract more visitors than any other area of the SCEWC

    This Call For Solutions is looking for the most relevant and innovative solutions in order to showcase prototypes in real‐time in the Smart City Plaza within the Smart City Expo World Congress. Solutions must be related with one or several of the following subjects: smart society, technology, governance, energy, mobility and sustainable city.

  • Horizon 2020 (2014-2020), the EU funding programme for research and innovation, puts emphasis on tackling societal challenges, including Societal Challenge 1 (SC1) related to Health Demographic Change and Wellbeing. Having at its core the principle of better health for all, SC1 focuses on personalised health and care. It has an overall budget of €7.4 billion for the programme duration. The Work Programme will be published in the Autumn. The Info Day of 18 September in Brussels is now fully booked but will be webstreamed.

    This Info Day will precede the adoption of the 2016-17 Work Programme for SC1 and will help the participants:

    • find out essential information on how to develop a good project proposal and take them through the application process, step by step
    • find project partners
    • get answers to their questions
    • exchange practices with the ones who have already received funding under SC1 H2020 projects
    • find new business opportunities
