Irene Rivas Blanco received her M.S. degree in industrial engineering and her ph.D. degree in mechatronics from the University of Malaga, Spain, in 2010 and 2017, respectively.
In 2011, she joined the Medical Robotics Research Group of the University of Malaga, where she has participated in a number of projects.
In 2013, she was a Visiting Researcher at The Biorobotics Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.
Her main research interests include robotic systems for minimally invasive surgery and cognitive strategies for medical robotics. She has more than 20 publications on these topics, including journal papers, conference papers, and book chapters.
