Short biography

Francisco Javier Cañete Corripio received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Telecommunication Engineering in 1996 and 2004, respectively, from the University of Malaga (Spain).
  • In 1996, he worked for the Instrument and Control Department at INITEC (Empresa Nacional de Ingeniería y Tecnología) in the design of power plants.
  • In 1997, he worked for Alcatel España R-D Department in the design of Wireless Local Loop systems.
  • In 1998, he joined the Departamento de Ingeniería de Comunicaciones at Universidad de Málaga. At present he is an Associate Professor.
  • From 2000 to 2001, he also collaborated with the Nokia System Competence Team in Malaga in the design of Radio Access Networks.

Awards:

  • IEEE Communications Society, 2014 TC-PLC Inter-disciplinary Research and Application Award for his contributions to PLC channel modeling.
  • Best paper award of IEEE International Symposium on Power Line Communications and its Applications (ISPLC), 2012, Beijing (China).
  • FUNDACIóN TELEFóNICA Award (finalist) to the best Master Thesis in Networking and Telecommunication Services, 2011.
  • Best paper award of XX Symposium Telecom I+D, Valladolid (España), 2010.
  • Juan López de Peñalver Award, Fundación General de la Universidad de Málaga, to the best research work in the field of engineering, received in 2007.
  • 'Extraordinary Award' to the best Ph.D. Thesis, ETSI Telecomunicacion, Universidad de Málaga, received in 2005.
