Brief
biography:
Pascual F.
Martinez-Freire was born in Vigo (Spain). He took his Master in Philosophy
(1964) and his Ph. D. in Philosophy (1972) at Universidad Complutense de
Madrid.
He lectured for two
years at Pontificia Universidade Catolica in Porto Alegre (Brazil), and then for
fourteen years at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, being from 1982 till now
Full Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at Universidad de Malaga,
where he is also main researcher of the Group “Cognitive
Sciences”.
He has published
several books about mathematical logic, philosophy of science and philosophy of
mind. His latest book is La Importancia del Conocimiento. Filosofia y
Ciencias Cognitivas (First ed. 2005, Second ed. 2007).
He is also editor
and co-author of other books about philosophy of science and philosophy of
cognitive sciences. His latest edited
book is Representaciones (2009).
Among
his many papers are “Being inside: Putting representation, body and world
together again” (in Cognición y
Representación, 2005), “El enfoque enactivo en las ciencias cognitivas” (Ludus Vitalis, 2006) and “What is
peculiar to human beings is not reason but free volition” (Pensamiento,
2009).
