Short biography
Francisco Javier Cañete Corripio is an Associate Professor in
Departamento de Ingeniería de Comunicaciones (IC-UMA) since 2008, and Vice-Chancellor of Studies of the
Universidad de Málaga since 2023. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Telecommunication Engineering in 1996 and 2004, respectively, from the University of Malaga. In 1996, he worked for the Instrument and Control Department at INITEC (Empresa Nacional de Ingeniería y Tecnología) in the design of power plants. In 1997, he worked for Alcatel España R-D Department in the design of Wireless Local Loop systems. In Nov. 1997, he joined IC-UMA and was Head of Department (2011-2016). From 2000 to 2001, he also collaborated with the Nokia System Competence Team in Malaga in the design of Radio Access Networks.

and Application Award for his contributions to PLC channel modeling.

- FUNDACION TELEFONICA Award (finalist) to the best Master Thesis in
Networking and Telecommunication Services, 2011(with the role of supervisor).

- Juan López de Peñalver Award, Fundación General de la Universidad de
Málaga, to the best research work in the field of engineering,
received
in 2007.
- Doctorate Extraordinary Award to the best Ph.D. Thesis, ETSI Telecomunicacion, Universidad de Málaga, received in 2005.
